CLARE ANTHONY SAMMONS Memorial Service It is with sadness that the family of Clare Sammons announces that he passed away suddenly on December 8, 2006. He leaves his wife Laily; his daughters, Margo and Jody; his son Danial, and all of his grandchildren, Dylan, Marina, Nicholas and Sam. Clare also leaves his three brothers and their families, Bernard and Jonas (and Susan) in Winnipeg and Gregg (and Jean) in Scottsdale, AZ. Clare had a wonderful, unique life. He grew up and was married in Winnipeg and then moved to Alberta to pursue his education. He taught at and led the Electronics Department at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. In 1970 he took his family to Nairobi, Kenya where they enjoyed a happy life for 11 years. Clare returned to Canada in 1981 where he worked with his friend Dr. Bob Bigsby in Alberta. He later joined his two brothers in the family furniture business in Winnipeg. In the late 1980s Clare decided to once again pursue an opportunity overseas going to Brunei (Borneo) and finally to Penang, Malaysia. Clare was a citizen of the world and an entrepreneur at heart always coming up with ideas and exciting opportunities. He loved his family and always welcomed an opportunity to get together especially if he could combine business and pleasure. He ran his own consulting company (TCI) for many years and also established the first Robotics College in Malaysia (FRIS). Clare will be missed by his family, his friends and business associates. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue (885-9715). In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice.
